Draft, pending legal review
This text is a draft. A lawyer has not checked it yet, and it may change before Min Beiti opens. Parts marked “to be confirmed” are not final.
Privacy policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what we collect about you, why, and who can see it. We collect only what we need to run Min Beiti.
In short
- A maker’s exact address goes only to the courier and our team. Buyers see only the maker’s area.
- A buyer’s full address goes only to delivery. Makers see only the buyer’s area.
- ID and selfie photos for verification are seen only by our verification team and deleted after review.
- Location data is removed from photos and videos on your phone, before upload.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, and delete your account at any time.
- We never sell your personal data.
- Chats are checked automatically for phone numbers and links. Our team reads a chat only when it is reported or needed to settle a problem.
What we collect
- Your phone number and name.
- Your email address, if you choose to give it.
- Your language and how you prefer to be addressed (man, woman, or prefer not to say).
- Your delivery addresses: a pin on the map, building, floor and landmark notes.
- Your orders, reviews and favourites.
- For makers: shop name, photo, story, area, items, photos and videos, and how you want to be paid.
- For verification: a photo of your ID and a selfie.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account safe.
- To take, deliver and follow your orders, and to pay makers.
- To send you messages about your orders and your account.
- To help with problems and refunds.
- To prevent fraud and keep unsafe items off Min Beiti.
- To improve Min Beiti, using counts that do not identify you.
Sign-in codes
We send your sign-in code by WhatsApp, or by SMS if WhatsApp does not work. A code works only once and only for a few minutes.
Early-access list
When you join the early-access list on minbeiti.com, we keep your name, WhatsApp number, area, language, whether you are a buyer or a maker and, for makers, what you make.
We use your number only to message you on WhatsApp about the launch of Min Beiti. We use the rest to know where to open first. We never sell or share this information, and we never add your number to other lists.
You can ask to be removed from the list at any time by writing to us (see Contact). We delete the whole list on 31 May 2027, or earlier if you ask.
Your location
We use your approximate location only if you allow it on your phone, to show makers near you. You can say no and still use Min Beiti.
Makers: before your first item goes on sale, we check your home location twice, on two different days, with precise location, to confirm your shop is at your home. Your exact home location is only shared with the courier and our team. Buyers see only your area.
Who sees your address
A maker’s exact address is shared only with the courier (our delivery partner), to pick up the order, and with our team. Buyers see only the maker’s area.
A buyer’s full address is shared only with delivery. The maker sees only the buyer’s first name and area.
ID and selfie for verification
To become a Verified maker, you send a photo of your ID and a selfie. They are stored separately from everything else, encrypted, and only our verification team can see them.
They are deleted once the review is done, whether it is approved or not.
Photos and videos
Before a photo or video leaves your phone, the app removes its location data, so it cannot show where you live.
Item and shop photos are public. They are checked automatically for unsafe content.
Chat and how messages are checked
Chat on Min Beiti is between people: a buyer and a shop and, during an order, the courier. There is no chatbot and no public chat. Buyers and shops can write and send photos and voice notes; they cannot call each other.
To keep deals, payments and personal details safe in Min Beiti, messages are checked automatically before they are delivered:
- Text: checked for phone numbers, email addresses, social media accounts and outside links, in Arabic, English, French and Armenian, and in Arabizi (Arabic written in Latin letters).
- Photos: any writing in the photo is read and checked the same way.
- Voice notes: turned into text (transcribed), then checked. The text is shown under the voice note.
- Some checks use AI, to catch clever attempts and to spot fraud and abuse.
A message that does not pass is held and not delivered, and the sender is told why. Repeated attempts can lead to the account being flagged for our team, limited or suspended.
Our staff read a chat only when someone reports it, when the checks flag it, or when it is needed to settle an order problem, a refund or a legal request. Every time staff open a chat, it is recorded.
When you tap Translate, the message is translated by a service on Amazon Web Services. Transcription and AI checks also run on Amazon Web Services, except Armenian voice notes, which Google Speech-to-Text transcribes in the European Union, because Amazon does not support Armenian.
The checks do their best but can miss things. You can report a message or block someone at any time, from the chat.
How long we keep data
- Sign-in codes: deleted after 10 minutes.
- ID and selfie photos: deleted after the review.
- Messages from delivery and payment partners about an order: 90 days.
- Deleted accounts: personal data is removed or anonymised within 30 days.
- Past orders: kept for accounting, without your name or contact details.
- Chats, with their photos and the text of voice notes: kept while your account is open, and deleted 1 year after it is closed (to be confirmed by legal review). This is longer than the 30 days above, so that order problems can still be settled.
- Voice note recordings: deleted after 90 days. Their text is kept with the chat.
- Chats linked to an open dispute or a legal hold: kept until it is resolved.
- Early-access list: deleted on 31 May 2027, or earlier if you ask.
Keeping data safe
All data sent between your phone and Min Beiti is encrypted. Only staff who need data for their work can see it, and every staff action is recorded.
Our system logs never contain phone numbers, addresses or sign-in codes.
Your choices: export and deletion
You can ask us for a copy of your personal data.
You can delete your account at any time in the app, under “Delete my account”. Your personal data is removed or anonymised within 30 days. Past orders are kept anonymised, for accounting.
You can also ask us to correct your data.
Chats are kept for 1 year after an account is closed, so that order problems can still be settled, and then deleted (to be confirmed by legal review).
